Resident Bursary Program

Homestead Land Holdings is excited to announce the launch of a Resident Bursary Program! We are offering $2,500 educational bursaries to 20 young residents wishing to further their education. Chosen recipients will receive a $2,500 bursary to assist with tuition fees for their post-secondary education or training at a recognized university, college, trade school, or apprenticeship program.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?


High school students and/or recent high school graduates who are able to answer “YES” to ALL the following criteria:

  • Reside in a Homestead building
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • 25 years old or younger as of May 25, 2026
  • Set to begin your first year of post-secondary education/training or are currently enrolled in a recognized Canadian post-secondary educational or training program.
  • Can demonstrate a need for financial assistance

HOW ARE RECIPIENTS SELECTED?





20 complete applications will be randomly drawn by Homestead’s selection committee and will be evaluated to confirm the candidate’s academic achievement, references, biography, financial need, and work experience (including efforts to secure summer employment) as part of financing the applicant's post-secondary education.






BURSARY PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

REFERENCES 

One reference letter is required .Please have your reference provide a letter (maximum 1 page) outlining your involvement in local community initiatives and commenting on your likelihood of success in your chosen post-secondary career. Please include their relationship to you (teacher, employer, coach, etc.), their telephone number and email address. This individual cannot be a family member.

ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT

Please provide a copy of your official academic transcript or Grade 12 Report Card.

RESUME  

Please provide a copy of your resume.

ESSAY

Provide a brief (1-2 page) essay about yourself and include the following details: 

  • Tell us about yourself and describe how this financial assistance will help you achieve your future goals?
  • How were you involved in your high school?
  • What community projects and/or volunteer work have you been involved in?
  • Which people or events have inspired you to pursue post-secondary education? 
  • Where do you plan on attending post-secondary or where are you currently enrolled? What are you studying/training for? What are your future career goals?
  • Any other information you wish to share.
