Our Story

Alf Hendry is the Chief Executive Officer of Homestead Land Holdings Limited, a role he has held since 2003. With more than 25 years at Homestead, he provides overall leadership and direction for the company, with a particular focus on acquisitions, construction, and long-term strategic growth. Alf works closely with the executive team to ensure Homestead continues to build on its strong foundation and deliver on its commitments to its various stakeholders.

Throughout his tenure, Alf has guided the company through sustained growth, strengthening its position as one of Canada’s leading private residential landlords. His steady leadership has ensured that Homestead remains financially sound and true to its values, balancing expansion with continuity and long-term vision. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D), a director and member of the Executive Committee at FRPO, and serves on the boards of Homestead Land Holdings Limited and Kingston Health Sciences Centre.

Alf holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University. Outside of work, he values time with his family and enjoys golf and outdoor activities.

David Trousdale is the President of Homestead Land Holdings Limited, where he is responsible for guiding the company’s overall strategy and overseeing one of Canada’s largest multi-family residential portfolios. With more than 18 years at Homestead, David has been a key leader in driving growth, shaping long-term priorities, and ensuring the company remains focused on its community-first philosophy.

Throughout his career, David has held senior roles across both Operations and Acquisitions & Development, giving him a unique perspective on the full lifecycle of Homestead’s communities. His operational experience provides a strong foundation in positive resident relations and portfolio management, while his development expertise enables him to identify and pursue new opportunities for expansion. This combination allows him to balance the company’s legacy of stability with its vision for the future.

David holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Rental Housing Canada. Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his family.

Mike Terkalas is the Chief Operating Officer of Homestead Land Holdings Limited, where he is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company. With nearly 20 years of experience at Homestead, Mike leads teams across operations, leasing, legal, and maintenance, ensuring properties are managed effectively and in line with the company’s long-term vision. He is focused on driving strategic initiatives, improving processes, and enhancing both resident satisfaction and staff engagement.

Throughout his career at Homestead, Mike has advanced through a variety of leadership roles that have shaped his broad perspective on the business. His operational expertise and leadership have played an integral role in strengthening company performance and supporting sustainable growth. His ability to balance day-to-day management with long-term planning allows him to guide teams with clarity and purpose.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Finance from the University of Guelph. Outside of work, Mike is a dedicated hockey dad and coach, committed to supporting youth in the community. In the summer months, he enjoys camping and spending time outdoors with his family.

Sadaf Ghoreshy is the Chief Financial Officer of Homestead Land Holdings Limited, where she oversees the company’s Accounting, IT, and Strategy & Implementation teams. With a decade of experience at Homestead, she has been instrumental in driving efficiencies, advancing digitization, and ensuring the company’s financial strength as it continues to grow.

Prior to joining Homestead, Sadaf spent nearly a decade in public accounting at KPMG, gaining extensive experience in financial management and auditing. She began her career at Homestead as Corporate Treasurer before advancing to Vice President of Accounting and Controller, and ultimately being appointed CFO in 2021. Her leadership combines strong financial expertise with a forward-looking approach to innovation and technology.

Sadaf holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (Chartered Accountant). She also serves as a Director on the Smith-Homestead Foundation Board. Outside of work, she enjoys volleyball, golf, strength training, reading, and spending time with her family.

Greg Ropp is the Chief Building Science & Sustainability Officer of Homestead Land Holdings Limited, where he leads the Engineering and Building Services team. He oversees HVAC, Energy & Sustainability, and Property Standards & Construction, with responsibility for capital planning and the implementation of major structural, façade, HVAC, and energy reduction projects. With 16 years at Homestead, Greg has been central to advancing the company’s commitment to sustainable building practices and operational excellence.

Greg began his career at Homestead in the Property Standards & Construction department before moving into senior leadership roles as Senior Manager and Vice President, ultimately being appointed CBSSO. Prior to joining Homestead, he spent a decade in the building science and restoration industry, working in consulting and construction management. His combined technical expertise and leadership experience allow him to guide complex projects with a focus on efficiency, innovation, and long-term sustainability.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and holds the Building Science Specialist (BSS) designation. He is also an active member of the REALPac Sustainability Committee, the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers, and the Building Science Association of Ontario. Outside of work, Greg enjoys staying active by playing baseball, basketball, and golf, and attending sporting events.

Mark Brule is the Vice President of Acquisitions and Corporate Development at Homestead Land Holdings Limited. With over 13 years of experience at Homestead, he has been instrumental in driving the company’s national strategy for acquisitions, dispositions, and new development. His work has shaped Homestead’s growth through careful financial analysis, strategic site selection, and long-term planning.

Mark began his career in operations, where he gained valuable insight into asset management and tenant relations before moving into senior leadership roles, including Assistant Vice President of Burlington Operations. His combined knowledge of operations and investment gives him a balanced perspective when evaluating opportunities for Homestead’s future.

He holds an MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, a Bachelor of Commerce in Real Estate and Housing from the University of Guelph, and a Certificate in Buildings and Construction from New York University. Outside of work, Mark enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time outdoors with his family.

Mitch Noonan is the Vice President of Human Resources at Homestead Land Holdings Limited, where he leads the HR team and focuses on strategic talent acquisition, employee engagement, and the development of future leaders. His responsibilities include oversight of recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, health and safety, and company benefit programs.

Mitch began his career in hospitality before transitioning into real estate in 2019 with Homestead, where he completed the Property Management Trainee program. He went on to serve as a Property Manager and later Assistant Vice President of Kingston Operations, working closely with senior leadership to achieve company objectives. In 2023, he assumed leadership of Homestead’s Human Resources team and was promoted to Vice President, Human Resources. His operational background and leadership experience bring a unique perspective to his role in shaping Homestead’s people and culture strategies.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government and is a member of the REALPAC People and Culture Committee. Outside of work, Mitch enjoys camping and spending time outdoors with his family, as well as golfing with friends.

Devon William Joy is the Vice President of Construction at Homestead Land Holdings Limited, where he leads the construction of all new projects across the portfolio. With six years at Homestead, he plays a key role in delivering developments that strengthen the company’s long-term growth and community impact.

Before joining Homestead, Devon worked with PCL Constructors, where he contributed to several major projects, including the notable Parliament Hill rehabilitation project. His technical expertise and leadership experience allow him to oversee complex construction projects with a focus on quality, safety, and innovation.

Devon is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and an MBA. He is a member of Professional Engineers Ontario, ASHRAE, and the Kingston Construction Association. Outside of work, he enjoys outdoor activities with family and friends, including golfing, fishing, hunting, boating, and skiing.

John Gallinaro is the Vice President of Information Systems and Technology at Homestead Land Holdings Limited, where he leads the planning, development, and execution of the company’s technology initiatives. With nearly 25 years at Homestead, John has been instrumental in aligning IT systems with business goals, driving innovation, and supporting operational efficiency, all while maintaining a strong focus on cybersecurity.

John’s career at Homestead has spanned multiple areas of the business, beginning as a Financial Analyst before moving into accounting and treasury roles. He later transitioned into technology leadership as Manager of Business Information Systems and Systems Director before being appointed Vice President in 2022. His broad background across finance and technology gives him a unique perspective in leveraging IT to support both operational needs and long-term strategy.

He holds an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a member of the REALPAC Cyber Security Committee. Outside of work, John is an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan, and a proud hockey and soccer dad.

Leann Gibson is the Vice President of Accounting and Controller at Homestead Land Holdings Limited, where she leads the accounting department and is responsible for preparing financial reporting for the Board and external stakeholders. With seven years at Homestead, Leann plays a key role in ensuring financial transparency and accuracy across the organization.

Prior to joining Homestead, Leann was Senior Manager of Enterprise Business Services at KPMG. She transitioned to Homestead as Senior Manager of Accounting before being promoted to Controller, and most recently to her current role as Vice President in 2025. Her extensive experience in both public accounting and corporate finance allows her to bring a strong technical and strategic perspective to her leadership.

Leann is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from Laurentian University, as well as a diploma in Business Administration – Accounting from St. Lawrence College. Outside of work, she enjoys supporting her children at their sporting events, quilting, and reading.

Greg McKinlay is the Vice President of Strategy & Implementation at Homestead Land Holdings Limited, where he leads cross-functional initiatives that drive growth, operational efficiency, and enhance the resident experience. With 17 years at Homestead, he focuses on strategic planning, execution, and stakeholder alignment to ensure the company’s long-term vision is translated into meaningful outcomes.

Greg began his career at Homestead as a co-op student while studying at the University of Guelph and later managed residential portfolios in Kingston and London as a Property Manager. Since moving into Strategy and Implementation in 2019, he has led numerous company-wide initiatives, including key digitization efforts such as the launch of Homestead’s digital leasing program and the myHomestead resident portal. His background in both operations and strategy allows him to guide transformative projects with a practical, results-driven approach.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Management Economics in Industry and Finance from the University of Guelph and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. Greg is also a member of CPA Ontario, CPA Canada, and the REALPAC Artificial Intelligence Committee. Outside of work, he enjoys running, cycling, and playing hockey, as well as spending time with family and friends and experimenting with new recipes—especially homemade pizza.

Tom Gabriel is the Vice President of Quality, Training, & Operational Partnerships at Homestead Land Holdings Limited, where he is responsible for ensuring building standards, overseeing learning and development programs, and managing corporate and commercial partnerships. With 18 years at Homestead, Tom has been integral to strengthening operations through compliance, education, and collaboration.

Tom began his career at Homestead as a Property Manager before advancing into senior leadership as Assistant Vice President of London Operations. His broad experience across property management, training, and operational partnerships allows him to approach his role with a focus on both people and performance. He has played a key role in standardizing building practices, expanding training initiatives, and fostering relationships that support Homestead’s long-term success.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Real Estate Management from the University of Guelph and is a Certified Property Manager and Accredited Commercial Manager through the Institute of Real Estate Management. Tom is also a member of the Real Estate Institute of Canada. Outside of work, he stays active through men’s soccer and basketball leagues and enjoys supporting his daughters with all of their extracurricular activities. 

Sarah Topping is the Vice President of Operations at Homestead Land Holdings Limited, where she leads a team responsible for the day-to-day management of a diverse portfolio of rental properties. With 18 years at Homestead, she ensures operations are aligned with company policies, procedures, and standards.

Sarah began her career with Homestead as a summer student in Kingston before moving into property management, overseeing buildings across Toronto, Ottawa, Ajax, and Kingston. She was later promoted to Assistant Vice President of Ottawa Operations in 2021 and to her current role as Vice President of Operations in 2023.

She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Laurentian University through St. Lawrence College and has earned both the Certified Property Manager (CPM) and Accredited Commercial Manager (ACoM) designations through REIC. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys fitness, gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Roger Bedard is the Vice President of Procurement and In-House Maintenance at Homestead Land Holdings Limited, where he oversees the suite renovation program, the In-House Maintenance division, and capital expenditures. With 25 years at Homestead, Roger has been a driving force behind the growth of the company’s in-house maintenance capabilities and the successful delivery of large-scale renovation initiatives.

Throughout his tenure, Roger has held a variety of management roles that have shaped his expertise in both operations and project leadership. His work has focused on building high-performing teams, streamlining processes, and ensuring that renovation and maintenance projects align with Homestead’s long-term vision of quality and resident satisfaction.

He graduated with honours from the Institute of Housing Management program at Humber College and has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 35 years, supporting a range of charitable initiatives. Outside of work, Roger enjoys spending time with his family, working outdoors, boating, and woodworking.
